Atlanta Plumber
Plumber
A licensed Atlanta plumber is a highly qualified tradesman who specializes in installing and maintaining systems used for conveying drinking water, sewage and drainage, as well as for industrial plant piping. Atlanta plumbers work in residential, commercial and industrial settings; homes, apartment buildings, retail stores and factories all have the need for experienced Atlanta plumbers.
Training & Licensing for Atlanta Plumbers
It takes a minimum of five years of training and experience to become a Master Atlanta plumber. A Master Plumber may deal exclusively with one aspect of the trade or be adept at all phases of plumbing installation, maintenance and repair. Apprentice (novice) plumbers often receive their rigorous training under the tutelage of Master Atlanta plumbers and established plumbing companies to learn key points of this demanding trade. Once meeting the basic requirements (training and three years of supervised and approved field work) required by the State of Georgia, apprentice plumbers may sit for their Journeyman Plumber examination. After acquiring their Journeyman license these plumbers must continue training and working in the field for an additional two years before being qualified to sit for their Master Plumber examination.
Each state adopts a plumbing code sufficient to meet the requirements of their region while protecting the health and safety of their citizens. Georgia adopted the International Plumbing Code with Georgia State Amendments (2006 Edition) as the state plumbing code. Licensed plumbers, as are all plumbers at Superior Plumbing, are required to perform plumbing work in strict adherence to the code that has been adopted by the state in which they work.

History of the Word “Plumber”
The word ‘plumber’ dates from the Roman Empire where roofs were sometimes made of lead (plumbum in Latin). This comes from the periodic table of the elements symbol of 'Pb' for lead. Lead roofs were waterproof, thus the workers on these roofs were called ‘plumbers’. Roman baths later used lead for pipes and for the main baths. So, a person worked with lead was known as a Plumbarius, later shortened to ‘plumber’.
